Welcome to the University of Warwick Folk Society Website. This is the official website for the society, and as we are a primarly fun-orientated society, I realise that people are not going to want to trawl through a load of boring blarb about stuff, so this site is very informal, first person, entertaining, low-key, and above all, new for 2006/7. So if you like a site that gives you the facts straight, you're best off ignoring the text on most of the pages.
However, I realise this is also our official website, so here are the straight facts.
- A Ceilidh is a gathering of people for dance, music, talk, and usually drinks. (but you don't have to be a drinker to join, I'm not)
- Our society is open to everyone, of any standard of music, song or dance.
- We have our own band, and are looking for anyone who can play, or who would like to learn to play an instrument in a folk music capacity.
- We travel to Coventry once a month for a Ceilidh.
- We hold our own Ceilidh's on campus.
- Our membership fee is £3, like most other societies.
- Pictures will be coming to this page and many other pages less shortly than I had orginally anticipated at the beginning of the year.
So, enjoy your browse of our site, and contact us if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Tom. (Webmaster)
